The Lady and the Harper: Coming This Week!

My newest project, The Lady and the Harper, will look a little bit different than my other stories. This book will be published in a serialized format—meaning the audience will have a chance to read the chapters one at a time as they're written instead of waiting for the whole work to be completed. This format is nothing new; several classics were published in this manner, including The Count of Monte Cristo, the Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of Baskervilles, and Uncle Tom's Cabin. Publishing serially provides shorter wait times for the reader (who can read a chapter or more a week rather than having to wait years for the book to be published), shorter chapters that can be consumed on the go, and the chance to influence and get to know the author through feedback. Additionally, writers are able to share their work quickly and can receive immediate feedback from readers. Publishing serially also allows writers to share stories that don't fall into traditional categories because of length, overlapping genres, or unconventional formats. So basically: writers get to write, readers get to read—it's a win-win for everybody!

On Friday, January 10, the first 7 chapters of The Lady and the Harper will be available for free on the Radish app. After that, I will publish a new chapter a week, which can be read by paying coins on the app or by waiting an additional week for the episode to become free. For each coin that's spent on my chapters, I will receive a percentage of the profits—just as I would by selling a traditionally published book. When I finish the story, I will be free to pitch my completed book to agents, self-publish, or keep the story on Radish while I move on to my next project.

While I would love to make a little money on this book, I am more excited to finally share my work with readers. The Lady and the Harper is a project I've kept in my head for over a decade, and I can't wait to get it out into the world. You can help by downloading the Radish app and participating in the book launch this Friday, by reading the chapters I publish each week, and by spreading the word to your friends. I'll be sharing more information and teasers on my Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the week, so make sure to check in and join in the excitement!
