A Bit About Me
Writing has been as natural to me as breathing (though sometimes it's the kind of breathing that happens after you've run the mile in gym class with little to no preparation.) I've spent my entire life telling stories to stuffed animals, to my captive little brother (in the sense that I held him captive, not that he was necessarily always captivated), and now to my students. I have been lucky to fulfill one dream already in becoming a middle school teacher in my hometown, where I am able to share my love of learning with young people who may not yet know the magic of words. Now that I'm becoming more comfortable with teaching, I can turn my attention back to my first love: stories.
I teach at a small school, which means I get to wear a lot of hats. This year I am the 7th grade homeroom teacher, soccer coach, and standardized testing coordinator. Additionally, I teach language arts, art, music, Spanish, German, and handbells to mixed classes of 5th-8th graders. We participate in NaNoWriMo every year, and are always on the lookout for new ways to incorporate the arts into other subjects.
